In this new series, titled 'La Mer', I have tried to move away from my usual oeuvre into an exploration of man's relationship with the sea- using different modalities to express this in the absence of the human figure. The styles I have adopted here look at the sea in contrasting moods: bright and summery, the boats a part of the surrounding water; age old occlusion, reflected in the Egyptian feluccas; and the restful mellow seascapes framing the beached wooden fishing boats.
